Other Side of the Track

For this project, we targeted to solve the social issues occurring in Sharpsburg, Pittsburgh, a neighborhood that has low vitality. A railroad track running along the riverside is an obstacle to community development, but it is also a breaking point that can serve as a design opportunity.
My teammate and I strive to revitalize the city through connecting the two sides of the track by a pedestrian-friendly walkway, running across the neighborhood from north to south. We create diverse outdoor landscape spaces for activities targeting users from all age and social groups that are also connected and cohesive to the urban fabric.
